RemARKable Stamp of the Month Blog Tour - Secret Garden!!!

Welcome to the RemARKable Stamp of the Month Blog Tour.  This month some of our most talented RemARKable teammates are showing you many different ways to use the Secret Garden stamp set from the Stampin' Up! Spring Catalog. 


If you haven't already heard, Stampin' Up! is going through a "Color Refresh."  Several colors are retiring:  Regal Rose, Pretty in Pink, Bashful Blue, Certainly Celery, Baja Breeze, Riding Hood Red, Bravo Burgundy, Not Quite Navy, More Mustard and River Rock.

Colors that are being added back into the four color families are: Bermuda Bay, Calypso Coral, Wistera Wonder, Pear Pizzazz, Soft Sky, Pool Party, Blushing Bride, Crushed Curry and Island Indigo.  We'll also be seeing a new color in late April called Smoky Slate.

With the recent announcement of the Color Refresh, I thought I'd center this month's projects around "the old and the new."  Here's my first creation:

This is a very simple card using River Rock and Not Quite Navy.  I matted the smallest Labels framelit using this technique.

Here's my second creation using Island Indigo, Calypso Coral, and Pool Party.  I'm so excited that these three colors will be staying around for a while!

I stamped the flowers on Shimmery White card stock using StazOn, then I colored them with markers and cut them out with my Big Shot.  I created the background paper using the Netting background stamp.  I really love that stamp, so I hope it stays around in the next catalog.

You can see better in this close-up how I hand cut another layer of the center of the flowers.

One More from the Stocking Builder Punch

I thought I had posted this card before, but I can't find it on here.  Sorry if it's a repeat.  ... I made this card as a sample right after I got my Stocking Builder punch from Janet.

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the Netting background stamp!  It makes the card look like a warm flannel blanket.  I tried stamping the Netting stamp with Pretty in Pink ink on Pretty in Pink card stock and it was just too much pink.  I know of three women who are pregnant, but they were all "diagnosed" with having boy babies.  So, I'll have to hold onto this card until the next girl comes along.

Stamps: Netting, Petite Pairs
Paper:  Whisper White, Pretty in Pink, Subtles Patterned designer series paper
Ink: Pretty in Pink, versamark
Accessories: white embossing powder,  heat tool, scallop oval punch, large oval punch, white baker's twine, mini clothespins, mat pack, paper piercing tool, Stampin' dimensionals, and the Stocking Builder punch

Tonight Randy and I are going to his work Christmas party.  We've got a $10 gift exchange.  They all play that game where you draw numbers and pass around the gifts, stealing from each other.  We decided this year to give a $10 gift card.  I was going to make a Stocking gift card holder, but didn't have time.  Plus, I ended up having to make a few more quick Christmas cards this afternoon.  (How could that happen???)  So this is what I made:

It's very simple and elegant, don't you think?  You could change the sentiment to create a completely different card.

You're in My Thoughts - Two Challenges

Has it really been that long since my last post?  Where does the time go???  I've been busy stamping almost every day.  Just haven't taken the time - until now - to share my creations.  Over the next few weeks I'll be sharing some items from my Fall and Christmas stamp camps.  For today I'm showing you a card that was inspired from two challenges: SUO Challenges and the Stampin' Queen's Sketch Challenge.


The SUO Challenge was to create a "Thinking of You" card.  I've got a few "thinking of you" stamps, but my favorite is one from the Word Play set.  One challenge down, one to go.  Here's the Stampin' Queen's sketch:



I have to admit, this sketch was a stretch for me.  First, I chose the stamp sets: Word Play, Netting and Delicate Doilies.  In need of some color inspiration, I grabbed my handy-dandy Color Coach and settled for the creative combination listed for Soft Suede.  After gathering all of my materials I was still stumped as to how to combine everything.  I finally decided to stamp the two large panels to make my own designer paper (I stamped off to mute the colors a bit).  I love the Netting background stamp!  I've been using it on quite a few projects lately.  For some finishing touches, I layered the Boho Blossom punches and added pearls.  I created the bow using the fork bow method.  The card below is my final result.

Paper: Soft Suede, So Saffron, Regal Rose, and Very Vanilla
Ink: So Saffron, Regal Rose
Accessories: So Saffron taffeta ribbon, Boho Blossoms punch, pearls, Stampin' Dimensionals
