Delicate Doilies Display Take Six

I've been away from my computer for the last few days.  Some of it was spent shopping for a new minivan.  What a pain!  Do you ever feel like the salesman goes to talk to the Wizard of Oz when he steps away from his desk?   They're not fooling me!!!  Good thing that we shopped at the end of the month.  Anyhow, if everything goes as planned we're getting a new van next week.  I've read about some demonstrators making enough money to make monthly car payments.  Looks like I'd better step things up a bit!

After van shopping, I spent the majority of my time enjoying the mild summer weather with my kids.  Right now they're outside having a water balloon fight with my brother Joe.  I hope the balloons are biodegradable like the package says. We had a bit of trouble with the kids running in and out of the house soaking wet a few days ago.  Plus they got about nine towels wet before they decided to call it quits.  Today they got a warning. Once they're inside, they're inside to stay.  It also helps that I locked them out, LOL!

After reorganizing my samples, I ran across one card from my Open House that I forgot to photograph.  Here it is:

I cased this card from Heather Cserni and Vicki Burdick.  I stamped the images with white craft ink then dusted them with white embossing powder and took my heat tool to them.  After that I colored areas inside the doilies with Real Red and Night of Navy markers.  One thing that I forgot to do on this card was add a rhinestone to the star on the sentiment.

My mom gave me some fresh peaches yesterday.  They're really ripe, so I've got to make a pie tonight.  This means that I don't have time to cook supper, so we're calling for Chinese!

Stamps: Delicate Doilies, Word Play
Paper: Crumb Cake, Real Red, Night of Navy
Ink: Craft White, Night of Navy, Real Red and Night of Navy markers
Accessories: Big Shot, Perfect Polka Dots tief, white embossing powder, heat too, Real Red satin ribbon

Delicate Doilies Display Take Five

Inspiration from this card came from Heather Cserni.  I just saw it on her blog a few days ago.  Her color inspiration came from the Color Coach.  I  also used the Color Coach to determine my colors.  They were chosen from the Sweet Set color combination on the back of the Island Indigo card.  The sentiment is from a stamp set called Petite Pairs.  I got that set for FREE based on my sales.  Yippie!!!

I demonstrated this card at Tina's workshop on Wednesday night.  She has become a really good friend through stamping.  Funny thing is that I first talked with Tina just after giving birth to my youngest daughter Clarice.  Through her church she coordinated the delivery of some home-cooked meals to our family.  (I was so grateful for those meals!)  At the time I wasn't a Stampin' Up! demonstrator.  It wasn't until about a year ago that I put two and two together.  Tina is almost my mother's age, but I can talk to her as a peer.  Sometimes she sneaks in some motherly advice and I usually accept it.  Sad to say, it's not quite the same as hearing it from my own mother!

Stamps: Delicate Doilies, Petite Pairs
Paper: Whisper White
Ink: Baja Breeze, Island Indigo, Rich Razzleberry
Accessories: Basic Pearls, Stampin' Dimensionals

Delicate Doilies Display Take Four

Here's another card that I made to display at my Open House:

I totally copied this card from Janet Wakeland's blog.  I loved how she tied the baker's twine around the brads and how she placed the punched circles on the edges of the card stock.

I'm really liking this new color Island Indigo.  It's not quite a denim blue and not quite a turquoise color.  Yummy!

Stamps: Delicate Doilies, Thank You Kindly
Paper: Island Indigo, Real Red, Crumb Cake, Whisper White
Ink: Island Indigo, Real Red, Crumb Cake, White Craft
Accessories: White Baker's Twine, Neutrals brads, 1" circle punch

Delicate Doilies Display Take Three

Here's the next sample that I displayed at my Open House.

I got inspiration for this card from Janet Wakeland, one of my Stampin' Up! uplines.  I basically changed some of the colors and the sentiment.  She got her inspiration from one of the Stampin' Up! catalogs.  The great thing about that catalog is that there are TONS of ideas.  And it's OKAY to copy them!

Ink: Pool Party, Chocolate Chip
Accessories: Big Shot, Circles # 2 Die, 1 3/4" Circle punch, Boho Blossoms punch, Chocolate Chip Scallop Dots Ribbon, 5/16" Chocolate Chip brad

Delicate Doilies Display Take One

Well, we're finally getting a little reprieve from the heat and humidity here in northwestern PA.  I think we set some heat records a few days ago.  It's a bad thing when it's too hot to go to the local pool!

Delicate Doilies of the first new stamp sets that I bought from the Stampin' Up! 2011-2012 Idea Book & Catalog.  There are so many things you can do with this versatile set.  Here's a photo of the first sample I made to display at my Open House:

This stamp set uses three new "In Colors." Don't they look great together!?!

Stamps: Delicate Doilies, Fabulous Phrases

Pennant Parade Day 5

Merry Christmas from the end of my Pennant Parade!  This is the first Christmas card that I made this season.   Here it is:

The green trees were stamped on Whisper White card stock with Versamark, then with Wild Wasabi ink, then heat set with clear embossing powder.  The center tree was stamped with white craft ink onto Poppy Parade card stock, then heat set with clear embossing powder.  The stars were embossed with gold embossing powder. I stamped the tree stand in Chocolate Chip ink directly onto the card stock, then stamped them again, cut them out and adhered them with dimensionals.  This is not a card that I would mass produce.

Stamps: Pennant Parade
Paper: Whisper White, Poppy Parade, Wild Wasabi
Ink: Chocolate Chip, Wild Wasabi, Poppy Parade, Versamark, White Craft
Accessories: Petite Pennants Builder punch, Itty Bitty Shapes punch pack, Jewelry Tag punch, 1/6" circle punch, gold cording (retired), heat tool, clear embossing powder, gold embossing powder, dimensionals

This card ends the Pennant Parade tour for Stampin' Mom of Four.  Stay tuned for the Delicate Doilies tour!

Pennant Parade Day 4

Wow!  What HOT, HOT, HOT weather we're having in northwest PA today.  My thermometer read 97.8 in the shade around 3:30 pm this afternoon.  And it's super humid, too.  I spent several hours outside at a vendor fair as part of the Oil Heritage Festival activities.  My husband Randy stayed with me most of the time for moral (and hydrational!) support.

Here's yet another card that I created for my Open House:

This card uses several new in colors.  I kinda like it.  But I have to admit that I probably won't be making another one just like it.  Getting those pennants to hang just right on that baker's twine took a little longer than expected.  But I do like the final product : )

Stamps:  Pennant Parade
Paper: Calypso Coral, Whisper White, Lucky Limeade, Pool Party, Wisteria Wonder, First Edition designer series paper
Ink: Lucky Limeade, Pool Party, Wisteria Wonder
Accessories: Petite Pennants Builder punch, Lace Ribbon Border punch, Boho Blossoms punch, Big Shot, Perfect Polka Dots ef, Basic Rhinestones, Brights brads, White Baker's Twine, 1/16" hold punch

Pennant Parade Day 3

This is another card that I created for my Open House.  It uses a few different punches and a returning product, the red glimmer paper!!!  I stamped the Baroque Motifs flourish onto Blushing Bride with Blushing Bride ink, then I punched out the icing.  Then I punched a Very Vanilla icing and ran all three through the Elegant Lines embossing folder.  Along with the sponging, it really adds dimension to the ice cream : )

Stamps: Pennant Parade, Baroque Motifs
Paper: Wild Wasabi, Blushing Bride, Very Vanilla, Just Add Cake designer series paper, Red Glimmer Paper
Ink: Chocolate Chip, Blushing Bride (for sponging on the ice cream)
Accessories: Cupcake Builder punch, Petite Pennants Builder punch, Big Shot, Elegant Lines ef

My First Blog Post After "The Crash"

Please, please, please make sure that your computer data is backed up!  The Carlson household computing functions have been fully restored.  What a pain (at least for me!) getting the network "communicating," etc.  Just put it this way -- computing is NOT one of my gifts.   We had to order out a few night because I just didn't have time to cook.  But I got the job done : )

Of course, all of this computer distraction put a damper on my stamping time.  And I has to reinstall my camera and editing software... another hurdle that I overcame!  Let's see, what can I share with you today ...

Here's a card that I made to display at my Open House. I also demo'd it at Tammy's workshop a few days ago.  (Inspiration for this card came from Julie DiMatteo. This card uses the new In Color card stock called Wisteria Wonder.  I used the Color Coach to find Wisteria Wonder's "Dynamic Duo," Elegant Eggplant.  I stamped each image once with Elegant Eggplant,  then stamped them again in Versamark and heat embossed them using white embossing powder.  Then I used the new Lace Ribbon Border punch along with some white taffeta ribbon.  The sentiment is from the Thank You Kindly stamp set layered with the Extra Large Oval punch and the Decorative Label punch.

Stamps: Delicate Doilies
Paper: Wisteria Wonder, Elegant Eggplant
Ink: Elegant Eggplant, Versamark
Accessories: Embossing Buddy, white embossing powder, heat tool, Lace Ribbon Border punch, Extra Large Oval punch, Decorative Label punch, Whisper White taffeta ribbon

I also made a few other cards this way using "Dynamic Duos." Everyone at Tammy's workshop enjoyed these cards.

Happy Stamping!

I'm Back Online!!!

My Open House last Tuesday was a great success!  Thanks to all who attended.  It was a great time for me.  By the time it was all over, I was exhausted!  My daughter Clarice chose the mystery hostess.  Drum roll...  It's Barb Frantz!   Barb, I'll be calling you tomorrow to choose your free merchandise.

My laptop "bit the dust" about two weeks ago.  Thankfully, I paid for a warranty protection.  It had to get a new keyboard and a new hard drive.  All I had to do was be patient and wait for it to come back to me via UPS.   I was never so happy to see Jack, our UPS man.  He even brought me a Stampin' Up! order, too!

Our desktop computer also died.  It had been sick for a while and I just ignored it's slow-ness.  When you have a house full of people who are used to getting online several times a day, not having any computer is a very difficult adjustment to make.

Tonight Randy helped get supper started while I was at Staples buying the new desktop computer.  I'm so grateful for his willingness to help -- and I didn't even have to ask.

Since I'm the "techie" of the family, I'm in the process of re-installing Microsoft Office onto our laptop and our new desktop computer, getting the networked printer online, getting my camera software up and running, etc.  This, of course, means that I won't be posting photos of any new projects just yet.  My computer anxiety is running pretty high right now.  So, I'm taking one software bundle at a time.

Look forward to a "Parade of Cards" next week!

Happy Stamping!
