Artisan Embellishment Class Part One

I started working on my Artisan Embellishment cards back in December.  At that time I had Valentine's Day on my mind.  February came and went - and along with it several card designs!   So I had to come up a few different ideas for using the Artisan Embellishment Kit.  Here are the first four:

This card idea came from Melissa Davies. I changed the color to Baja Breeze (I am really going to miss that color!) and used a different sentiment.

This is the card that Joanne Travis designed.  In her original, she used the resin flower.  I added the pearl.

This card was originally designed by Patty Bennett.  I think all I change was the paper tags.

This one is a Stampin' Mom of Four original. Friendly Phrases is retiring at the end of May.

I'd like to thank Melissa Davies, Joanne Travis and Patty Bennett for use of their card ideas.  Stay tuned tomorrow for the other four cards :)   ...I still have room for one more person in my last Artisan Embellishment card class next Tuesday the 7th at 10 am.  First one who responds gets the seat!

WOW! You're the Best! - another Masculine Card

After six years of living in this home (and adding two more children) Randy and I decided that we all needed more room to spread out.  So over the last month or so we've transformed a room in our basement from a huge mess to a usable family room.  (Photos of the room will be in a future post.) When we first bought this house we knew we wanted to finish the room.  After not doing it ourselves for several years we ended up hiring a local contractor to get the job done in a timely manner.

In the meantime I started working on samples for my masculine card class and found a card created by Melany Watson.  The hammer stamp is part of the Every Little Bit stamp set.  (I got this set last spring for free based on my sales during Sale-a-Bration. It is a really cute set, so I should use it more often.)  I changed things up a bit and added some embossed aluminum foil. To get this effect, you glue aluminum foil to a piece of card stock with an anywhere glue stick then run it through the embossing folder.  Here's my finished "construction"

I gave one of these cards to our neighbor Mike who helped us move the incredibly heavy sleeper sofa into our completed room.  He also works at Home Depot, so I thought he'd appreciate the card.

The kids are loving the room.  It's 13' x 23' and with only the sofa in it, they are running around having a great time.  We still have to get a television in there.  And we told the kids we'd get a game system for them, too.  After all this work, I'm hoping to keep my living room in better shape.  Well, maybe.

Twitterpated Thanks

 A few posts ago, I wrote that I would show you a stepped up version of a Thank You card.  Here it is:

I used my Big Shot to cut the Twitterpated dsp with the Fun Flowers die, then I curved them with the Bone Folder and layered them with Stampin' Dimensionals.  Next, I punched seven flowers using the flower shape from the Itty Bitty punch pack and rolled them around the end of my stylus.  I glued them to the center of the flower with Tombow glue, then added the pearls. I embossed the Whisper White card base with the hearts Adorning Accents embossing folder, then stamped my sentiment, added the baker's twine and adhered the flower with Stampin' Dimensionals.  The card seemed to need a little more, so I doused it with some shimmer paint and alcohol spray.

This card is being hand-delivered to someone special : )  Let me know what you think.

Everyday Enchantment Thank Yous

Good Monday morning!  I created some Thank You cards for my friend Liz who just had her baby boy.  These are clean and simple cards.  I made two versions:

You can see the sparkle of the Champagne Mist shimmer paint in this photo.

I was pleased with how they turned out. Good thing about these cards is that they won't need any extra postage to mail.  Please tell me what you think about them.

A Clean and Simple Card

Here is a comment left on my blog the other day, "For instance, if the user flies to Japan and he wants to fax something to a client in Australia, all he needs is a phone line. Of course that was after I had already given the number out like crazy."  ...I don't get it, do you?

I made this card while playing around with Stampin' Up!'s new adorning accents edgelits and coordinating embossing folders.  Anyone can make these clean and simple cards in a matter of minutes.  (That is, unless you are interrupted by four needy children.  It took me two days, LOL!)  I got the idea from a demonstrator on Stampin' Connection.

Baby Boy Card - And a Bradley Update

Randy used my van most of the week to drive back and forth to work because the new tires for his truck were on order (nothing like waiting for a snowstorm to get those tires!).  He just got them on last night.  I've got the SU! logo on the van, but no one stopped him for a catalog.  Must've been all that snow we got!

My bestie Liz is having a baby boy next week (or sooner if she goes into labor).  I am so glad that I got her card finished before the birth.  Here's the card:

When I first got this stamp set (free from SU! !!!) I really didn't know how best to use it.  This way is pretty straightforward. The trickiest part for me was deciding what colors to use.  Even though Liz is having a boy, I couldn't resist coloring the hearts pink!  Aside from the coloring, it's a really simple card. Next time I use this stamp set, I may try the "spotlight" technique.

Here is the scrap of paper I used to test my marker colors.  It was a good use of those 1/2" scraps that I hoard, LOL!

I took Bradley to the orthopedic surgeon this morning.  He suffered a shoulder separation. This means that the end of his collar bone got pushed up away from his shoulder joint.  He didn't break any bones at all.  Bradley can do any activities that he feels he can do.  (He also said no gym class for two week, but Bradley doesn't have gym this grading period.)  He has to go back for a check-up in two weeks.

On the drive back to school, I told Bradley that I wished I had a copy of his x-ray to put on my blog. A visual would be good, right?  Well, he told me I was weird.  Well, I was only joking.  But I did agree with him that I'm weird.  No matter what we do all parents are weird to 12 year-olds, right?
